🏅

Advancement That Matches Scoutbook

Ranks and merit badges come straight from Scoutbook, and you can export completions back for upload (Pro).

How the Move Works

Your roster and advancement come from Scoutbook, the official record. Your unit's own history comes from TroopTrack's spreadsheet exports. No TroopTrack password is shared with anyone.

1

Bring Your Roster from Scoutbook

Create your unit and import from Scoutbook: your Scouts, adults, ranks, merit badges and partial progress.

2

Export from TroopTrack

In TroopTrack, open Request a Spreadsheet Import and download Activities under Export to CSV. Download the Money Book as a CSV too.

3

Review, Then Import

In Settings, choose Import from TroopTrack and upload the files. Campfire shows who it matched and what it will add. Nothing is saved until you tap Import.

Running both for a while?

That's fine. Import again at the switch and Campfire adds only the new rows, never the same entry twice. And if an import doesn't look right, you can undo it from the same page.

What Comes Over

From your TroopTrack exports

  • ✅ Camping nights (tent nights)
  • ✅ Service hours
  • ✅ Hiking miles
  • ✅ Each Scout's account history from the Money Book, with balances recalculated (Pro)
  • ✅ Former members' history too, matched by name

Comes from Scoutbook instead

  • Your Scouts, leaders and parents
  • Ranks, merit badges and awards

Not imported today

  • Cabin nights, canoeing miles and miles driven
  • Medical form dates, training, equipment and library

Cabin nights don't count toward the Camping merit badge, so we leave them out rather than overstate a Scout's nights.

Questions Leaders Ask

No. You download the CSV files from TroopTrack yourself and upload them to Campfire. Campfire never signs in to TroopTrack.

Campfire has a free plan with unlimited members, and importing camping nights, service hours and hiking miles is part of it. Scout accounts are part of Pro, which is $125 a year for the whole unit with no per-Scout fees, so the Money Book import needs Pro or a Pro trial.

No. Campfire only imports history from before the day your unit started on Campfire, because after that Campfire records it from your events. You can change that date before you import. Importing the same files again adds nothing.

TroopTrack exports don't carry member IDs, so Campfire matches people by name and shows you anyone it couldn't place. Pick the right person from your roster, or leave them out.

Spending in the Money Book becomes a charge and a deposit becomes a credit on that person's account, so each family's balance carries over. Old deposits aren't counted as cash coming in, so your troop's cash on hand isn't thrown off.

Undo the import from the same page, or write to us. A real person reads every message and will help you sort it out.

Bring Your History With You

Create your unit, bring your roster over from Scoutbook, then upload your TroopTrack exports and review them before anything is saved. It works on the web, iPhone and Android.
