Troop CampfireWeather happens. When an outing is off, cancel it rather than deleting it — a canceled event stays visible and clearly marked, while a deleted one just vanishes and leaves families wondering whether they misread the calendar.
How to cancel an event
- Open the event from your Calendar.
- Tap the 3-dot menu in the top right (its tooltip reads More actions).
- Choose Cancel Event.
The event stays on the calendar marked as canceled. Editing is hidden while it is canceled, so nobody quietly changes the details of an event families believe is off.
Tell everyone
Canceling does not send the message for you. Tap the envelope icon in the top right — Email About Event — and send a note. This deliberately still works on a canceled event, because "it's off, don't come" is exactly the moment you need it. Email reaches families who have not opened the app today; an in-app post may not.
If plans change back
Open the event, tap the 3-dot menu, and choose Uncancel Event. RSVPs are still there — nobody has to respond again.
Deleting is separate, and permanent
Delete Event in the same menu removes the event and its RSVPs for good, and needs the delete-events permission. Use it for an event created in error, not for one that is simply not happening.
