Chat messages scroll away and calendar entries get buried. An announcement stays put: it sits at the top of everyone's Home screen until a date you choose, and you decide in the same step whether it also goes out in the Everyone chat, the weekly digest, or an email.

Post one

  1. Open troopcampfire.app or the mobile app. On Home, tap + New next to the Announcements heading, or Post an announcement if nothing is pinned yet. You can also open Announcements from the navigation (under More on phones) and tap New announcement.
  2. Give it a Title and write the message. Bold, lists, and links are supported. Add a photo with Add a photo if it helps.
  3. Optionally tap Link an event. That adds a View event button and sets the pin to end on the event date.
  4. Under On the home screen, leave Pin to the top of Home on and adjust the date with Change. Two weeks is the default when no event is linked.
  5. Under Also send it, pick your channels, then tap Post announcement.

Where it goes

  • Post in the Everyone chat (on by default) drops a card into the troop-wide chat. Members get the usual chat notification and can ask questions right there. The card links back to the full announcement.
  • Include in the weekly digest (on by default) adds it to the next digest under From your leaders. Older announcements still pinned get a one-line "Still posted" mention. This switch is off if your troop hasn't turned on the digest in Troop Settings → Weekly Digest.
  • Email everyone now (off by default) sends a real email to every member with an address on file, from noreply@troopcampfire.com with replies going to you. Use it for things that can't wait until the digest. These emails show up in the Email tab's sent history.

You can send later, too. Open the announcement and use its menu to Post in Everyone chat or Email everyone after the fact, or to Unpin, Edit, or Delete it. Editing never re-sends anything.

What families see

Pinned announcements appear above Upcoming Events on Home. Anyone can tap the × on a card to hide it from their own Home; it stays in the Announcements list for everyone. When the pin date passes, it drops off Home on its own and remains in the list under Past.

Who can post

Posting needs the Post Announcements permission. The roles that can send troop email have it by default (for example Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, and Site Administrator). Site administrators can grant it to other roles under Troop Settings → Roles & Permissions.
